Under Paul's leadership, Scalar has grown to become the premier technology integrator for solutions in the enterprise. One of the company's founders, Paul works closely with the Scalar Board of Directors and his leadership team to realize the company's mission of creating value for customers by rapidly delivering mission-critical solutions.
Paul has more than 20 years' experience in the Canadian high-tech industry. His career began at IBM supporting the initial launch and rollout of the RS/6000 line of Unix based servers and included technical and sales roles focused on some of Canada's largest banking and insurance customers. In 1996 he joined Enterprise Technology Group (ETG) in a sales role and later became the managing partner / principal. ETG delivered over $500M in technology solutions focused around Sun Microsystems technologies.
Paul is a graduate of McMaster University. He has a Honors Bachelor degree in Computer Science.
As Chief Technology Officer and Lead Architect for Grid Computing, Roger determines Scalar's technical direction by focusing on delivering solutions that are relevant, cost-effective, and leading edge. His team of architects is responsible for investigating emerging technology, testing and verifying these technologies in Scalar Labs, and architecting often disparate technologies into customer ready solutions.
Passionate about technology and its use, Roger is a co-founder of Scalar Decisions and a proponent of Scalar's "architect led" vision. Roger has worked in the industry for over 20 years designing, developing, deploying, and managing solutions in many industry verticals. Currently Roger ensures he stays ahead of the industry by focusing on Grid Compute design and deploying multi-Gflop HPC clusters. At the same time Roger consults with industry vendors and customers on numerous councils ranging from technology exchanges, product development, and green computing initiatives.
A senior executive with a 20+ year track record and multi-functional expertise grounded in the finance and accounting portfolio, Rob brings a versatile range of capabilities and sound executive judgment to the role of CFO at Scalar. His varied experience with market-leading companies and respected niche players spans public and private organizations primarily in the information, communications and entertainment industries.
Prior to joining Scalar, Rob was CFO and VP Business Development at TVO, Ontario's public educational media organization, where he was responsible for the finance, accounting, legal and admin functions and also lead TVO's revenue, business development and innovation teams. Prior to TVO, Rob was the CFO at various early stage technology companies including: Casero Inc., an online backup and sharing software and services organization; VFM Leonardo, an on-line distributor of rich media for the travel industry; and, Truestar Health Inc., an internet based health and wellness company. Rob's early career experience includes time spent working in private equity with Clairvest Group Inc. and public accounting and advisory services with KPMG.Rob graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) and is a CPA, CA. Rob currently resides in Toronto, with his wife Marjie and their three children.
Eric Ng has served as Vice President of Sales at Scalar Decisions since July of 2009. Previously, Eric was a senior Account Executive at Scalar, where he managed a number of key clients for the company, beginning in 2006. Prior to joining Scalar in 2006, Eric served as an Account Executive at Sun Microsystems of Canada. Eric has also held a leadership position at Platform Computing where he managed the Client Services team responsible for worldwide services revenue. Eric started his career as a Unix Systems Engineer on the Financial Services team, with Digital Equipment of Canada in 1991. Eric holds a BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University in Toronto.
Strahan has over 15 years of experience in both IT management & management consulting industries. Prior to joining Scalar, Strahan was the Director of Product Management for Bell Canada, a position he held for 5 years. During that time, he developed Bell's Hosting & Cloud Computing strategy, and led the product management teams responsible for two major hosting acquisitions - Q9 Networks and Hypertech - as well as expanding Bell's own national data centre footprint. He also led strategy & service development for emerging technical solutions, including Cloud Computing, Machine to Machine communications & Mobile Transaction services.
A respected cloud expert, Strahan has written several articles on Cloud Computing and spoken frequently at vendor and analyst conferences, including: CICA Audit Conference, ITAC in Ottawa, DCIE in Montreal, L'Expert in Toronto, IDC Conference, ISAAC, and IT Canada.
Strahan received his MBA from the Rotman School at the University of Toronto in 2005, and currently resides in Toronto, with his wife Heather and three children.
Chris joined the Scalar team as General Manager, Eastern Region in May 2012. Chris has been a sales professional for over 20 years and has spent the last 8 years in Senior Sales Management roles with a focus on helping customers who run mission critical infrastructure and applications. Most recently, Chris lead sales at Bell Canada's growing Hosting business and helped Bell achieve double digit revenue growth in four consecutive years. Before Bell, Chris spent 7 years at Q9 Networks in both sales and Sales Management roles. Chris started his sales career at Xerox Canada as an account executive covering the financial vertical in downtown Toronto. Chris brings a passion for providing his customers with an unparalleled customer experience through his no compromise approach to sales and sales management. This approach has allowed Chris to build a solid reputation in the Greater Toronto Area that is centered on the highest levels of integrity and trust.
Chris has his Bachelors degree in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario.
Darren Sharpe started with XSM Systems in Vancouver in 2006, and was a key member of our team in Western Canada through the purchase of XSM by Scalar Decisions in 2008. From 2007 - 2011, Darren was the top grossing Account Executive in Scalar West, and stepped into the role of General Manager – Western Canada in July 2011. With over 15 years of sales and marketing experience, Darren is responsible for Scalar's western team and developing our business in Western Canada.
Before joining the IT industry, Darren was a National Marketing Manager for Nintendo Canada, and also spent 5 years with Kraft Foods in various regional and national sales roles.
Darren holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from The University of British Columbia where he played varsity football for the Thunderbirds.
With over 12 years' experience in business operations and finance management, Veronica Gerow brings a wealth of expertise to Scalar's leadership team. Prior to joining Scalar, Veronica served as General Manager for a fast paced auction company and, more recently, as Director of Operations for Exchange Solutions Inc and Nurun Digital Media.
Veronica and the team have grown to meet the challenges and opportunities that come with the rapid growth that Scalar has experienced. Veronica leads a team that is committed to supporting Scalar's management and account executives in their efforts to deliver industry-leading customer service.
