Contacts & Calendars

Scalar Collaboration has superior contact and calendaring features, allowing end-users to enjoy greater productivity and sharing. Users can easily coordinate and schedule meetings using the Scalar Collaboration web client, the desktop client, or interoperate with third-party calendar applications like Outlook. Functionality includes:

  • Preview invitees free/busy times
  • Easily schedule groups and resources using the interactive scheduling wizard
  • Delegate calendar access and grant varied levels of access rights to your calendar
  • Share within your Global Address List (GAL) or publically

Collaboration/ Briefcase

Online document management comes built-in to Scalar Collaboration as "Briefcase". Briefcase allows users to easily share and manage any type of file to internal teams as well as external customers and partners. Not only does this allow users to work collaboratively, it also cuts down on the amount of attachment traffic flowing over your network. Features include:

  • Ability to choose internal (read, manage or admin access) or external (view only with password or public URL) access
  • Save email attachments directly to Briefcase without downloading
  • Save documents by version, track documents by user and add comments per version
  • Simple check in/out functionality to avoid conflicting copies of documents

Apps/ Zimlets

One of the most exciting features of Scalar Collaboration is the endless possibilities provided by our Zimlets. Essentially, a Zimlet is a productivity tool. With integration into both external third-party applications (like Webex and Salesforce) and native applications (like Calendar and Contacts), Zimlets save users time by allowing numerous functionalities to be access from directly within your Scalar Collaboration mailbox. Sample Zimlets include:

  • Hover over dates in your email to preview your calendar for that day. The calendar can even recognize generic dates such as "today", "tomorrow" and "next Friday"
  • Cross-reference email senders/recipients in salesforce.com – providing you with the ability to log emails in the corresponding Salesforce contact record
  • When creating a calendar appointment, click "Save as Webex" to automatically schedule your meeting as a Webex, with system-generated meeting information sent automatically
  • Hover over an address to view it in Google Maps
  • Use the translation Zimlet to have your emails translated on hover
