HP Systems and Servers
HP has an extensive portfolio of server offerings, including entry-level 1U servers, advanced blade servers, and their mission critical Integrity (Itanium) line.
Scalar has deep experience in deploying all lines of HP servers. With the industry focusing on consolidation and virtualization, the HP BladeSystem has been a corner stone in many of the solutions we've designed over the past few years.
While trying to determine which server is the right fit for your organization Scalar has the technical knowledge required to properly size and architect a solution for you.
Whether you are considering application consolidation, virtualization, or high-performance-computing, HP offers a variety of flavours to suit your needs.
x86 Architecture:
- HP has two lines in their Proliant x86 space: DL and ML
- Intel offerings have product numbers ending with "0" ex DL380
- AMD offerings have product numbers ending with "5" ex DL385
Proliant DL Servers:
- Rack-optimized (dense computing)
- 100 Series - SMB or Corporate Scale Out
- 300 Series - Enterprise Class Dual Socket
- 500 Series - Enterprise Class Virtualization and Application Servers
- 700 Series - Large Virtualization and Application Server
Proliant ML Servers:
- Maximum disk expansion
- SMB application servers
- Mostly Tower Servers except for the ML370
HP BladeSystem
The HP BladeSystem has been designed to do everything you could in a traditional server, but with the ease of management, power savings, and space saving features blade technology offers. On top of offering Intel, AMD, and Itanium chips in a single chassis, you can also utilize storage and tape blades. The servers come in two sizes; full height, and half height. As a rule of thumb, anything you could traditionally do with a DL360/365 or DL380/385 can be done with a half height blade. If a server requires a large memory footprint, 4 sockets, or a large amount of IO the full height blades should be chosen.
Scalar has the expertise in properly sizing blade server to ensure that the correct blade is mapped to the correct application.
