Paul Kerr has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Scalar since he co-founded the company in 2004. He is responsible for overseeing Scalar’s operations as well as managing all corporate functions including finance, technology, marketing, and strategic planning. Under Paul’s leadership, Scalar has been able to achieve significant growth every year since founding Scalar.
Prior to founding Scalar, Paul worked as Managing Partner/Principal at Enterprise Technology Group (ETG), a Sun Microsystems solution provider, where he ultimately delivered over $500M in technology solutions. His career began at IBM, where he supported the initial launch and rollout of Unix-based servers to the banking and insurance sectors.
Paul graduated from McMaster University with an Honors Bachelor degree in Computer Science. He has been a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization since 2007 and is currently a candidate for the Institute of Corporate Directors’ ICD.D designation, representing his commitment to strong corporate governance.
Paul is active in the not-for-profit community and is a strong supporter of a number of children’s charities. He is a major donor at SickKids Hospital, where he has made a significant multi-year pledge as part of his personal goal to raise awareness on the impact that top pediatric research can have on the lives of children.
Eric Ng is currently in the role of Chief Operating Officer at Scalar Decisions. Previously, he served as Vice President of Sales for six years and led Scalar to 440% growth during that time. Eric joined Scalar in 2006 as a senior Account Executive, where he managed a number of key clients for the company. Prior to joining Scalar, Eric served as an Account Executive at Sun Microsystems of Canada. Eric has also held a leadership position at Platform Computing where he managed the Client Services team responsible for worldwide services revenue. Eric started his career as a Unix Systems Engineer on the Financial Services team, with Digital Equipment of Canada in 1991. Eric holds a BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
A senior executive with a 20+ year track record and multi-functional expertise grounded in the finance and accounting portfolio, Rob brings a versatile range of capabilities and sound executive judgment to the role of CFO at Scalar. His varied experience with market-leading companies and respected niche players spans public and private organizations primarily in the information, communications and entertainment industries.
Prior to joining Scalar, Rob was CFO and VP Business Development at TVO, Ontario’s public educational media organization, where he was responsible for the finance, accounting, legal and admin functions and also lead TVO’s revenue, business development and innovation teams. Prior to TVO, Rob was the CFO at various early stage technology companies including: Casero Inc., an online backup and sharing software and services organization; VFM Leonardo, an on-line distributor of rich media for the travel industry; and, Truestar Health Inc., an internet based health and wellness company. Rob’s early career experience includes time spent working in private equity with Clairvest Group Inc. and public accounting and advisory services with KPMG.
Rob graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) and is a CPA, CA. Rob currently resides in Toronto, with his wife Marjie and their three children.
Darren Sharpe started with XSM Systems in Vancouver of 2006. He became a key member of the team in Western Canada through the purchase of XSM by Scalar Decisions in 2008. Darren was the top grossing Account Executive in Scalar West from 2008 to 2011, when he stepped into the role of General Manager for Western Canada in July of 2011. In 2014, Darren expanded his role to Vice President of the West. During his four year tenure as GM/VP for Western Canada, he supported the region attaining over 400% growth in sales. Darren has recently taken on the role of Executive Vice President of Sales and is tasked to lead Scalar’s sales team and develop the business nationally.
Before joining the IT industry, Darren was a National Marketing Manager for Nintendo Canada, and also spent 5 years with Kraft Foods in various regional and national sales roles.
Darren holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from The University of British Columbia where he played varsity football for the Thunderbirds.
Glenn joined Scalar in February of 2015 and leads the company’s growth initiatives by exploring new horizons, acquisition opportunities, and alliances.
Glenn started his career developing emerging CRM and Customer Management capabilities with Omnicom. He then co-founded Exchange Solutions, a leading Customer Engagement Program solutions provider.
At Scalar, he is leveraging his extensive experience in Private Equity and Management Consulting to identify expansion opportunities, develop and integrate our next generation of capabilities, and fuel the company’s rapid growth.
Glenn is a graduate of McMaster University and Université Canadienne en France with a Bachelor of Arts.
James joined Scalar in January 2017 and has accountabilities for services for our customers and staff nationally. This spans managed services, professional services, project management office, and corporate IT functions.
James’ prior roles included senior leadership positions at service providers Q9 Networks and Bell Canada in both data centre and security where he helped to establish operational rigour, ‘always on’ processes, a continual learning and improvement culture, and a customer first ethos. Most recently at Q9, his teams successfully delivered best in class service results, supported multiple new managed services and colocation product launches, and implemented new security compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI across the company in response to customer needs.
Earlier roles had him leading a national security professional service practice as well as leading the build, acquisition, and operating all of Bell Canada’s 7 data centres nationally in addition to hiring and building teams, developing processes, and growing the business exponentially.
James holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University and lives in the GTA with his lovely wife Tracey and two great kids.
Ella joined Scalar in July 2015 and leads the company’s HR strategy and operations focusing on attracting, retaining, and inspiring top talent.
With over 10 years of human resources experience spanning a spectrum of industries, from technology to pharmaceutical to engineering, Ella strongly believes in a culture of putting people first. As Human Resources Manager, her mission is to create an environment where Scalar’s people are empowered to achieve success and be their best.
Acting as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, Ella creates and delivers HR solutions to effectively meet the needs of the business, manage organizational change, and build a high performing and winning culture at Scalar.
Ella holds a Bachelor degree in BA and Economics and a diploma with honours in Human Resources Management from George Brown College.
Anthony Giorgi joined Scalar in March of 2016 and brings over 20 years of executive sales, marketing, and business leadership experience within the IT industry. As Executive Vice-President of Scalar’s cloud business unit, Anthony’s mandate is to evolve our traditional IT business solutions to meet client demand for managed cloud computing services.
Prior to joining Scalar, Anthony was the Co-founder/Managing Director at K2 Digital, a company delivering business transformation services, and a sophisticated and automated set of cloud solutions for their clients. Anthony held overall P&L responsibility, and within a 3-year period he grew the business from a start-up to 8-figure revenues, securing many multi-year contract agreements with some of the world’s top brands. During that same time, Anthony also sat on the Board of Advisors for Cloud Carib, an offshore cloud computing provider focused on helping clients enable true “IT as a service”. Between 2000 and 2012, Anthony was Director of Sales with Q9 Networks, where he delivered over $400M in contracted revenue, and was a key contributor to the success of Q9’s acquisition by Bell Canada for $1.2B in 2012. Prior to Q9, Anthony has held other senior executive positions including Regional Sales Manager with Pfizer Pharma Canada (Presidents Club Recipient), and CEO/Founder of Funky Parrott Inc. (successfully acquired in 1996).
Anthony has been consistently recognized with many sales and business accomplishments over the years, most notably with the Entrepreneur of the Year award by the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Innovation Award.
Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University (where he also played on the varsity soccer team), and Business Administration coursework from Durham College. Anthony currently lives in Stouffville, Ontario with his wife Misty and their two children Lexi and Marcello, and stays active by trying keep up to their crazy sports schedule.
As Chief Technology Officer, Neil’s mandate is to help drive leadership in technology for Scalar, its clients, and its partners. Within this mandate, Neil drives internal groups within Scalar to validate new technologies and trends, and to seek out higher business value both within the organization and for clients. Neil is highly focused on engaging with clients on their core business challenges and how to address them by leveraging technology solutions.
Previous to joining Scalar in 2012, Neil spent over a decade at IBM in a variety of technical architecture roles, more recently being a Client IT Architect for Retail, and one of two National Architects for High Performance Computing. His background with IBM has resulted in a strong foundation in strategic thinking and structured approaches to complex problems.
Outside of his core work at Scalar, Neil is an active participant in both industry and philanthropic ventures. Currently one of the founding members of the Toronto Chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance and contributor to the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies curriculums in Cloud Computing. Neil has also served as a member of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Greater Toronto Airports Authority, City of Brampton, and Habitat for Humanity Brampton in a variety of volunteer roles.
Neil is a graduate of Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, is a licensed member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, and is a Senior Member of IEEE.
Jennifer joined Scalar in May 2014 and leads our national Marketing and Communications team responsible for building Scalar’s marketing strategy to define our brand, and build our client base across Canada.
With over 8 years of marketing experience, Jennifer closely collaborates with our sales and engineering teams to define and execute our corporate marketing plans across digital and traditional channels.
Prior to joining Scalar, Jennifer held previous event management and marketing positions at RE/MAX and the Toronto Board of Trade.
Jennifer has a Bachelors degree from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as certificates in post graduate studies in Sport & Event Marketing, and Digital Marketing Management.
